What is Self Government?

This is a little different than Self Governance. Self Governance is all about you and how you conduct yourself in your daily life. Self Government is about us…all of us as a collective people and how we will govern ourselves.

“Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” –John Adams

What John Adams was saying is that a nation’s ability to self govern depends on the morality of its people. If we have no ability to act according to some moral code, then the only way to keep people from harming one another is to institute a long list of dos and don’ts, then inflict punishments on them when they do something wrong. But if a people know how to act appropriately toward one another (as in the Golden Rule: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you), then they don’t need a bunch of overlords keeping them in line.

Why do you think the evil ones want to do away with morality? One reason is so we are more easily enslaved.

That’s not what was intended at the foundation of our country. We are meant to govern ourselves…literally. Everyday men and women are meant to make the decisions about what happens in our communities. We are part of the militia. We take part in a jury when needed. Everyday people come from each county on Michigan to assist in the functioning of the state assembly, to make sure people’s rights are protected. And some everyday people will eventually go to a Continental Congress.

Our forefathers created our first Federation on September 9, 1776.  That Federation became inactive after the 1861 “Civil War” began, and the people stopped assembling.

Today, our Federation has again been active since 1998.  In 2019 they called for the states to stand up their assemblies… and we did.  Our first vote by the people was to ratify (approve) the 17 territories into statehood. The result of the vote…  on October 1st, 2020 we finally had all 50 states for the first time in history! And there are 50 State Assemblies, including ours.

Some things to note about The Michigan Assembly, our Self Governing Body:

  1. Before you can govern a country with other people you must first learn how to govern yourself properly.
  2. The only purpose of government is to protect the people and their property.
  3. We are restoring our government to its full form and function and nobody else that has the right to do that.
  4. What we are doing is completely lawful, proper, and peaceful. If you’ve been waiting for some hero-savoir to save the world, we say…be that hero right here…right now!
  5. It does not work to be pushy, combative, critical, posturing and gossiping like kids in a locker room. Instead, be like a team member, like a band member, where everyone works for the good of the whole. If you find you don’t have the skills to be on the team, then bow out gracefully. You’ll be respected for the honesty.
  6. We do not have anyone over us that is “in charge” because we are each in charge of ourselves. The people of the assembly are the government, and we’re here to get things done. It’s a challenge and a job…and it’s worth the effort to be able to govern ourselves and keep our freedom.
  7. The kind of people we need in the assembly are those who are the wisest, kindest, most learned, most motivated to serve, and most honorable. –Anna Von Reitz
